MORE THAN BASKETBALL
OUR VISION
The VA League for Safer Streets is dedicated to enhancing community safety and well-being through a multifaceted approach. We strive to implement violence prevention programs and educational workshops in schools, neighborhoods, and community centers to educate and empower individuals on conflict resolution and violence prevention strategies.
Additionally, we provide vital resources and support services such as counseling, advocacy, and emergency assistance to individuals and families impacted by violence. Our initiative emphasizes collaboration by fostering partnerships with local stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, schools, faith-based organizations, and civic groups. Through these partnerships, we aim to address systemic inequalities and promote social justice through advocacy for policy changes and reforms at the local, state, and national levels.
Furthermore, we organize 12-week volunteer basketball game sessions three times a year, which serve as a platform for community engagement and aim to reduce violence by promoting positive interactions and relationships within the community, both on and off the court.
